Have you been polled?

We've responded to three polling phone calls in our house for this election. I don't think we've ever been polled before. (insert rude joke here)

I used to poll people for a living, before I met my wife.

I've been polled a few times, this year and last. It's a strange feeling when you've been active in a campaign and then you get a call to ask you who you're voting for. Your first reaction is to say, "Dude! Haven't you been paying attention?"

I get a call about once a week (sometimes more). I usually hang up before they get through the first sentence. I figure it's a bit rude, but it gets them to someone who wants to answer questions a bit faster.

If you want to be polled, and you want to receive lots of campaign literature, register as an independent with a spouse who is registered as a partisan. Houses where both are registered partisans only rarely get polled (and when they do, it's usually nationally funded because of the cost to poll through multiple response trees).

Both my husband and myself are registered as independents; we reside in a strongly Democratic town (Freehold Borough) in a Republican-leaning county... presumably that has contributed to our having been polled by phone perhaps a dozen times in the last two months.

Polled again twice today! Amazing.

You must be exhausted after all that polling. Have you been getting extended polls, or just quick ones that cover the basics and get out?

You know how much I love the long, extended polls, but these were the quick ones. Just the basics. (sigh) No one wants to take the time now.

XT's right. We've donated to Dems in the past in Hubby's name, but not in mine, and I'm still registered independent. We're on a lot of lists for that reason. Plus, some folks have some confusion about our names, so we get on lists twice. We get polled a lot. Sometimes they ask for one of us by name but often it's just whomever answers the phone.

A simple way not to be polled: use Optimum Voice or Vonage. I used to get called countless times in an election year. Since using OV...not once.
